One comment we’ve seen a lot over the years is “Why aren’t Squeeze more famous?” (we’ve sometimes wondered the same… 😂 ) usually followed by “What can I do to help?” Well, 3 key things that you can do right now that would have the most impact for us are:

1. Order a copy of Trixies now and get it for release day
2. Pre-save or pre-add Trixies to your music streaming service
3. Stream the new album on Friday

These 3 actions have a serious effect in getting this album (and Squeeze) in front of new fans. Read on to find out why…

If you are a streaming music user, when you “pre-save” or “pre-add” the album to your music library it gives streaming services an indication of how popular something is, which affects who it is recommended to on release day. So even if you have pre-ordered a physical copy (thank you!), this pre-saving makes a huge difference to help us get in front of more people through recommendations and playlists when it’s released.

Next, when the album comes out on Friday, listen to it on your preferred streaming service even if you’ve bought a physical copy. In a similar way to pre-saves, the more people that are listening to it (you!), the more likely it will be recommended to other users and included on ‘new release’ playlists.

Another thing that will help us is pre-ordering the album. We know loads of you already have (and thank you heartily!) but all pre-orders to date (including ones this week) get reported as sales on the day of release, which gives album charts across the globe an indication of “what’s hot”.

Most album chart websites and radio stations will give a run-down of artists in the chart that week. Just like streaming helps playlists, these shout-outs can help get us in front of more people: people who may be more ‘causal’ fans than yourself, where hearing the name ‘Squeeze’ and a new song might spur them into picking it up or streaming it in that crucial first week.

With Trixies only 4 days away, a ‘pre-order’ now is more like ‘an order’, so if you have been waiting until release day to pick up the album, why not take the plunge now? Our artist store at Townsend has some great exclusive items, like red vinyl, a double-A-side 7″ single; and for completists, the 2xCD + Blu-ray edition features the original demo recordings of Trixies from 1974!
